Announcement    ~~~ I have always had an interest in Early American history, so when I started working with tin more than 30 years ago, I very quickly developed a passion for it. What began as a hobby turned into a career of learning the old ways and an old trade that is in danger of disappearing. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to demonstrate the art of Tinsmithing at craft shows and historic sites. While working 20 years for a company that reproduced colonial lighting and hardware, I crafted copper lanterns for the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean". Recently I handcrafted 12 tin sconces for the upcoming movie "Harriet", the story of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War. Tinsmithing, like many of the Early American trades, is part of our American heritage. I am pleased to hand craft tinware for you just as it was in the 18th and 19th centuries.

~~~ Every item of my tinware is laid out, cut, formed, and soldered together by hand, just as it was long ago. Many of the hand operated machines used to turn edges, install strengthening wires, and add decorative beading are over 100 years old.
After an item of tinware is made, it is double checked for quality, appearance, and then thoroughly washed with soap and water. It is then finished in natural tin or antique tin.
I have been an Etsy member since 2009. Please check back often as I will be adding new tin items periodically.
Please enjoy browsing, and if you should have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you,
W.S. Harrison, Tinsmith
